Rectal prolapse is a section of the wall of the rectum that collapses. There are different degrees of rectal prolapse. It can be partial or complete. The prolapse can also be internal or external. Retal prolapse is a condition in gastroenterology that can be treated.

If it is an internal prolapsed of the rectal wall the diagnosis is confirmed with a PET-CT scan.
