What is chemotherapy?
Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to kill cancer cells. It has a proven track record of results for treating some types of cancer. But because chemotherapy drugs are designed to kill all cells that reproduce quickly it affects both cancer cells and healthy cells that are found in the bone marrow, hair and digestive system. As a result chemotherapy treatment can have visible side-effects.

Chemotherapy is used to treat a wide range of types of cancer. It is often used in combination with surgery and radiotherapy.

Cancers that can be treated with chemotherapy:
Lymphoma, leukemia, breast cancer, bladder cancer, lung cancer are treated with chemotherapy. But many other types of cancer are treated with a combination of chemotherapeutic drugs and either surgery or radiotherapy.

How effective is chemotherapy?
Overall, chemotherapy is an effective treatment for cancer. In combination with surgery and radiotherapy it can be used before the procedure to reduce the size of the tumor and afterwards to prevent the risk of remaining cancer cells spreading in healthy tissues.

Once the patient is treated successfully chemotherapy treatment can be maintained to help reduce the risk of recurrence of the cancer and prolong the period of remission.

But chemotherapy has the disadvantage of having side-effects including loss of hair, bloating, nausea and a weakening of the immune system.

Personal treatment plan
Every case of cancer is different. So when you contact us to receive treatment we will first assess your medical history. A team of multi-disciplinary cancer specialists will review and recommend the best treatment plan for you. It might include a combination of treatment methods. The aim is to create a personal treatment plan that is specifically designed to treat your type of cancer.

Second opinion
Treating cancer successfully depends on a good diagnosis. The quality of the diagnosis depends on the experience of the specialist and the technology that helps assess them the type and stage of the cancer. Therefore it is always better to get a second opinion to compare the results of the diagnosis and the type of treatment that they recommend. Your life might depend on it, so it is better to make an informed decision and get a second opinion.

How much does chemotherapy cost?
The price of chemotherapy starts from €5,000. This is only an indicative price. For cancer treatment we always recommend a personal treatment plan that can include a combination of treatment methods.
